Arrows & Apricots

Last year after my wedding, I owned an Etsy shop with my friend Shawna called Arrows & Apricots. It got really overwhelming with going to school full time and working 2 other jobs, so we decided to shut down the shop. We wanted to still do something creative, so we decided to change Arrows & Apricots into a blog! I'll probably be blogging more over there than here (this will be for more "Riley and me" posts). Make sure to stop by and connect with us! We will be having a giveaway soon :)

Sunday Best

Sunday best

J Crew clothing

Steve Madden genuine leather boots
$135 -

J Crew 14k bracelet

I just recently purchased the Herringbone vest from JCrew. Too bad it's on back order until November 10th. Wah wah wah. I've loved looking at how everyone wears them because I have a feeling it's going to be one of the most worn pieces in my closet. This look is what I consider my "Sunday Best." I could definitely wear this outfit while teaching the little 3 year olds and be able to chase them down in the hallway. What are your favorite outfits for Sunday?

Two years ago today Riley and I went on our first date. It was kind of a blind date because we had met through Facebook (oh the joys of social media). I was leaving that night to go to my brother's wedding in Sacramento, so we decided to do a quick date to get some ice cream. Our quick date turned into a 3 hour date driving around Salt Lake. We talked and laughed the whole time. I didn't want to leave for California because I was scared that he would just forget about me. I was wrong. He texted me the whole way to California to make sure I stayed awake while driving, even though he had to be at work at 7 am. We talked the whole time I was in California, and when I got back he was at my door within 10 minutes. Riley and I have been inseparable since. He is my best friend and I love him more and more every day. Cheers to another two years of ice cream dates, horse back riding, fishing, boating, hiking, t.v. show marathons, tennis, golfing, late night talks, baking cookies, good night kisses, and lots and lots of love.

Poor quality pictures are from my iphone (sorry!)

How I Lost 10 Pounds in One Month

Growing up I was always active. My mom is an amazing cook, and she always made me breakfast, packed my lunches, and made our family dinner almost every night. In high school I really stuck with tennis and would spend most of my free time hitting with my coaches or with my dad. The summer after my sophomore year, I did conditioning training with my high school coach. I would get there early in the morning and would work out for about 2 hours and then after would go have a 2 hour tennis lesson outside. I was in the best shape of my life, and I made it to state that year in singles. Then I left for college ( I only went to 3 years of high school ). I ate healthy, was doing Zumba 3 times a week and doing strength conditioning twice a week. I weighed about 115 pounds and was smaller than when I was playing tennis 6 times a week.

Sophomore year was a different story. I had made really good friends and started to eat out more and when I did cook it was really heavy carb meals like pastas or meals that had rolls and potatoes with them. I was vacationing more and would go to a different state every month so I was on the whole travel diet where I just ate like crap. The good part about it was that my friends and I would go running and we did a month of the Insanity workout DVD's. We also played countless hours of Just Dance, so overall I was staying pretty active.

Junior year was when I met Riley. We would go get frozen yogurt, get the large popcorn and soda at the movies, would always go out to eat with friends, and I would make treats about 3 times a week. We would ride horses, play tennis, go to the lake, and play basketball at his parents house every once in awhile. My activity level was not as high as it use to be. I got a gym pass to the infamous Provo Gold's Gym and would go with my roommates. I started to eat healthier and get back in shape because I was trying to get wedding ready. You know....the look good naked diet ;)

Senior year started out strong since we got married at the end of September. The hard part was that we were still building our home, planning a wedding (lots of fun taste testing), I was working 3 jobs, and I was a full time student. Once we got married I just fell off of the band wagon completely. (Ugh I hate admitting that because I promised myself that I would NEVER be the girl to gain marriage weight, but I did). I picked up another job, was still going to school, and we had a freezing cold and snowy winter. I had very little motivation. We were never home, so when we were home I was making quick box meals or Riley would pick something up on his way home from late night classes. Right before I graduated, I got a job offer at a marketing firm and took it.

Now as a graduated career woman, I'm working in an office at a desk all day. No more walking around campus. My office is great at having candy, snacks, and soda always stocked up. I also work around great little restaurants and cafes so it's very tempting to go out for lunch. Riley and I got Pipah right when I started my job, so I started going on walks more (and I live on top of the hill in our neighborhood so there are a lot of steeper roads) but other than that I really wasn't doing anything that great as far as working out. So sum it all up I looked disgusting, I felt awful about myself, and was honestly depressed about what I had done to my body. Riley was working out every morning at 5 am and I just couldn't bring myself to get up that early. He was swimsuit ready, I was not. We were getting ready to go to Lake Powell and I was so self conscious. I felt so bad for Riley because I should have been better at keeping myself in shape for him. So what did I do about it? I decided to go on a diet and get my butt back in the gym.

I am currently on the WiO Diet and I work out about 4-5 days a week. I have lost about 10 pounds. 6 pounds of it being body fat. I have also gained over a pound of muscle. Every week I go in for my WiO Diet consultation and get weighed on their fancy scale. The scale measures your body mass, water weight, body fat, and your muscle mass. It also tells you how much your arms, legs, and trunk (your core) weighs. It also tells you how much muscle and how much fat you have there. The WiO Diet provides protein shakes and specially made foods that contain no preservatives, no artificial hormones, it's gluten free, uses 100% natural sweeteners, and has a complete amino acid profile. The shakes are part of their protocol, the starter program that I am currently on. As far as my diet goes, my first week I would have a shake for breakfast and lunch. For dinner I would have 5 ounces of chicken and a salad with no dressing and then a shake post work out. The second week I got to add in their smart foods for snacks and dinners (low calorie, low carb, low fat food that still tastes AMAZING). They have muffins, rolls, pizza, burritos, tortillas, and more. They don't taste like diet food either which is great because more diet food tastes like cardboard grossness and it doesn't keep you full!

chicken alfredo pizza

The hard part about diets for me is that it restricts all of the really sugary and high carb food that I love. The guys at WiO Diet gave me 3B+ pills to take when I have a cheat meal so I don't see the negative side effects from it. You know, the weight gain and bloating. Having the 3B+ pills has really helped me stay on track because I still had a really fun 4th of July and got to enjoy the birthday cake at my nephew's birthday party without feeling guilty or seeing that extra pound on the scale at the end of the day. The best part is I don't feel bloated after a big meal. When we went to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, we stopped by The Cheesecake Factory on our way home. I can never resist their bread, so I took my 3B+ pills right before dinner and got to enjoy it. I didn't even feel that heavy bloated feeling after.

I have never felt better in my life. I have more energy, my skin is softer and more clear, and I am seeing great results. I stay pretty full throughout the day, and I drink about 100-150 ounces of water a day. Okay...are you ready for the progress pictures?! I'm really nervous to share these with you because I am not where I want to be, but I'm getting there. My starting weight was 133 pounds and in my current progress picture I weigh 122 pounds. In both pictures I'm relaxed, the problem with my first picture is that it was right before I went to Lake Powell so I'm not super tan so the filter I used on the VSCOcam app made the first picture look kind of funky. The sports bras are both the same brand from Target and the shorts are the same Nike shorts, but just different colors.

If you have any questions about the WiO Diet or the 3B+ pills, please don't hesitate to email me! Also, if you want to purchase any WiO Diet or 3B+ products you can use the code Chelsea10 for 10% off :)

Country Explosion-Meeting Toby Keith

On Saturday we had a big pool party with our friends. Shawna's husband Travis and my husband Riley wanted to go fishing after the party. Since the boys were going fishing, Shawna and I wanted to do something together. Shawna's dad is Shawn from KBULL93, so she asked him if he could get us tickets to the Country Explosion festival in Tooele. Not only did he get us tickets to the concert, but he got us passes to meet Toby Keith! To say I was excited was definitely an under statement. My little Oklahoma heart just couldn't even handle it. We waited in line behind the KBULL trailer. I was shaking when we got up to say hi to him. He shook our hands and put his arms around us for the picture. I was too nervous to even say that I was from Oklahoma too and that I use to see him at all of the OU basketball games. After we got our picture, we got a bag with hats, t-shirts, and a CD in it. We also got a picture of Toby Keith that was signed. The concert was so fun. Shawna and I couldn't tell if it was more fun to watch the performers or watch the people in the crowd. I also think our husbands were jealous that they decided to go fishing ;)

My Facial Experience

(I edited this picture through the VSCOcam app on my phone)

For the past 4 weeks I have been on the WiO Diet (more to come on that in the next few days!) and have been working out at least 3 times a week. So yesterday I went to NIMA and got a facial to pamper myself and celebrate all of my hard work without so I wouldn't be tempted into buying a cookie or cupcake. My friend Shawna goes to aesthetics school there, so I asked for her to do my facial. First of all--why did I not do a facial sooner?! (okay I have done one before but it was a 10 minute $25 one that was not good). I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

First she led me to my own room where she handed me a robe and told me she would be doing a massage on my shoulders and neck and my calves. So I put the robe on and got under the nice blankets. She came back in the room and turned the lights down so it would be nice and dark so I could relax. Then she put a steamer on me. It was SO wonderful and warm. Then she worked her magic and I almost fell asleep multiple times. In the picture above was when she put the mask on that eats away the dead skin. She even put it on my lips so that they would be so smooth (even my husband noticed how smooth they were). The mask smelled AMAZING! I could have kept it on and walked around with a green face for the rest of the night if she would have let me.

My facial was only $17 because they were doing a half of special yesterday. Honestly, I would be willing to pay WAY more than even the original price of $35 because I felt so relaxed and my face felt so silky smooth after. Because I have started doing body pump and RPM classes in the morning, my whole body has been sore. This facial was amazing because she massaged not only my face, but my calves, arms, shoulders, and neck. Shawna did a fabulous job, and I even bought 2 more facial services for my birthday that's coming up (okay it's in September, but I'm planning ahead). If you live in Utah call NIMA and schedule a facial with Shawna Schoenfeld!

Wedding Reception

Our wedding reception was so much fun. We had so many family and friends come and say hi and congratulate us. I was shocked! Since I grew up in Oklahoma, I didn't think we would have such a big turn out. My friend Shawna and I made all of the decorations for the reception (which was SUPER stressful), and I'm happy with how they turned out! In Riley's family, the tradition is to put on feather boas and dance to the congo line. It was really fun and it got everyone dancing. Riley's parents even surprised us with a beautiful getaway car and a night at the Grand America. Thanks to everyone who made it so wonderful! And thank you Jalene for taking such amazing and detailed pictures. I will forever treasure them!
